About NCTI

National Curriculum and Training Institute, Inc. (NCTI) has been developing and providing evidence-based, offense specific cognitive curricula directed toward changing offender behavior since 1981. NCTI's work in the field of Criminal Justice/Community Supervision has lead to the development of unique methods that foster positive, pro-social behavior in both juvenile and adult offenders. These techniques grew out of twenty-five years of experience in working with offenders and observing behavior change. From these years of experience, NCTI developed the philosophical approach to offender change known as the The Building Blocks for Behavioral Change.

NCTI's Building Blocks for Behavioral Change align with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Eight Evidence Based Principles for Effective Interventions. NCTI is the developer and provider of an offense specific curriculum library known as Crossroads. The Building Blocks for Behavioral Change are the foundation for developing NCTI's curricula and facilitator certification training.

Trained, certified facilitators, applying the NCTI techniques, have achieved impressive results that have shown to reduce recidivism in communities across the United States. By leading offenders through the NCTI curricula, the group members develop an intrinsic desire to change their criminal behavior and chose a pro-social lifestyle.

The Personality Assessment Instrument, Real Colors, is incorporated into the NCTI Crossroads curriculum library. This personality assessment instrument was designed for user friendly delivery and use within Criminal Justice/Community Supervision venues. Real Colors allows for both staff and offender to have a better understanding of themselves and others as it relates to their temperament and behavior. It opens lines of communication and understanding.

NCTI and The American Probation Parole Association (APPA) joined in collaboration in 2000, to provide all of the Crossroads Curricula and Facilitator Certification Training to probation, parole and community supervision departments across the United States. The Facilitator Certification Training curriculum under the Crossroads label is accredited by APPA.
