Evidence Based Curricula and Facilitator Certification Training

From NCTI in partnership with APPA

The National Curriculum and Training Institute, Inc. (NCTI) has been developing and providing offense-specific, cognitive curricula directed toward changing offender behavior since 1981. NCTI's work in the field of Community Corrections/Community Supervision has lead to the development of unique methods that foster positive, pro-social behavior in both juvenile and adult offenders. These techniques grew out of twenty-five years of experience in working with offenders and observing behavior change.

NCTI, in partnership with the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), offers an extensive library of cognitive behavior change curricula which are in line with the National Institute of Corrections Eight Evidence Based Principles for Effective Interventions as well as addressing the criminogenic needs of each offender. Through activity enhanced components, participants are lead through the process necessary to change negative behavior.

NCTI's Cognitive Facilitator Certification Training, which is accredited by APPA and approved for 35 contact hours, is available to private practitioners, probation officers, corrections officers, non-profit groups, counselors, educators and schools. This fast-paced, interactive training provides participants with the skills to facilitate NCTI?s cognitive behavior change curricula.

NCTI is pleased to announce the release of Cog Talk. NCTI is the first organization to provide a tool to the referring professional that provides specific Motivational Interviewing questions for each component in our curriculum. Now, officer contact with clients can reinforce your cognitive programming and enhance the work done by your workshop facilitators. In addtion, Cog Talk provides the NCTI certified facilitators homework exercises for their class participants. Best of all - it's free for NCTI clients. Learn more about Cog Talk.
